Cal South Announces 43 Teams Advancing to US Youth Soccer Regional Championship Events.

FULLERTON, Calif. (June 7, 2022) – Cal South is very pleased to announce its 43 teams that will compete at US Youth Soccer regional championship events later this month. As part of its longstanding annual tradition, Cal South will aid each of the teams listed by taking care of their team entry fees for the events they are attending. Entry fees for this year's Regional events are set at $1,600 per team, making a total of $68,800 that Cal South is donating to help these teams capture a regional championship title.
 
"Speaking for Cal South's board and staff, we are very excited for all of our teams heading towards the regionals this year," said Cal South CEO Terry Fisher. "Cal South is having a year of renewal through all aspects of the organization, and what better way to celebrate than having our teams show the rest of the west what we can do on the field? We are also more than happy to support our teams' efforts by taking care of their entry fees along the way. Good luck to all our kids, coaches, and referees at these events!"  
 

Of the 43 teams selected, 27 of them will attend the 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships, taking place from June 20-26 at the Simplot Sports Complex in Boise, Idaho. Fourteen of the 27 teams earned their spots from their success at the 2022 Cal South National Cup, which concluded play last month, while the other thirteen teams made it based on their outstanding play in the California Regional League. The other 16 teams will attend the 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup, which begins next week on June 15-19 at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Arizona. Twelve of the teams earned their slots in the Far West Presidents Cup due to their success in the Presidents division of this year's Cal South State Cup. The remaining two teams - both in the Boys 2010 bracket, one via National Cup and one via CRL – will actually be competing for a 2022 USYS Far West Regional title, though their championship is being held in conjunction with the Phoenix event instead of Boise. Champions at the 2022 USYS Far West Presidents Cup will next go on to the 2022 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup from July 7-10 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Champions at the 2022 USYS Far West Regionals will move forward to the 2022 US Youth Soccer National Championships, to be held July 19-24 in Orlando, Florida.
